Len Lewis
Len Lewis (666 Recordings/ SinisterTechHouse (SiTH)/ SWAG Records), an artist & producer with beginnings as early as 1993, is known by many for his inspiring voyage in the world of music.
Len has created a colourful path for himself which has spanned across multiple decades, as he continues to develop his sound, straining the boundaries of several genres as he goes. Although offering an extensive back catalogue first releasing in ‘93 on Jumpin & Pumpin, which then led to records on the likes of the legendary Swag, and Poodle Records, Lewis is very much about the here and now, with a slew of releases in recent years, the inaugural Deep Sleep Robot, on UK based Real Deal Records, on Lamache’s Discobar, Drifted, Banoffee Pies and several others. The recent flurry of output also consists of some sought after represses that the Londoner originally shared around twenty years ago, tastemakers across the board have been calling out loud for a long time for the releasing of some of Len’s integral back catalogue. The passion has truly been reignited, and you are all invited.
Growing up in the cultural melting pot we call London, Lewis developed an early taste for music, originally down the classical route, learning to play the violin, and asserting himself in local orchestras. As the teen years progressed the UK native found himself as lead singer of cover bands for Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, before taking the plunge into the rave society at the age of 16. This had a huge impact on the course of the narrative, and immediately Len closed the door of classical, and fully immersed himself into the world of electronic music. It may or may not be common knowledge but Lewis’ designated name for his sound is, SiTH, Sinister Tech House, claiming it’s mysterious name after a Mixmag reviewer used this description for his music many years ago. “If my hairs stand up when I listen to a track...then it gets the ‘SiTH’ stamp of approval. I am trying to have fun with my music as well as consciously and subconsciously telling the story of life in my reality, in the form of frequencies and energy transference.” he says.
Although other opportunities have arisen during Len’s spiralling quest, the music really does speak for itself, with a dedicated and committed producer at the heart of it all. After becoming disconnected from the artist who he wanted to be in the early noughties, Len, turned his focus to family life, this is time he has enjoyed in the build up to his modern-day resurrection. A pioneer of underground sounds and an inspiration to all, still carrying the same hunger and desire he was born into the game with.
Len Lewis has made a comeback in recent years which has redefined and reclaimed the UK tech house sound, showing the world once again how it could and should be done. Very few artists boast a discography as consistent, innovative and timeless as Len’s - complete with accolades from the birthplace of tech house, Croydon’s Swag Records, Lewis’s style dismantles the genre’s formulaic reputation and delivers fresh genius with every performance & release. His recent and original works almost all consistently reach asking prices of £30- £180 on Discogs, showing testament of who he is and what his music stands for within the scene.
LOLiFE (including a remix from Traumer), which have received support from some of the biggest names in the industry including, Leon (IT), Marco Carola, Anna Wall, Andrey Pushkarev, Lauren Lo Sung, Luuk Van Dijk and Archie Hamilton, at festivals such as Sunwaves, Unum, ADE and Hide & Seek...Len's long anticipated return to the scene is inarguably definite.
